Miss Gatke attended the University of South Florida, where she received her Maters Degree in Social Work. She served as the commencement speaker at many graduation exercises. She also worked as a reporter for the university newspaper, as well as the class representative to the faculty. Miss Gatke graduated with with high honors, subsequently attending Manatee Community College, where she became a registered nurse. Miss Gatke worked as a psychiatric R.N. for several years, also undergoing various nursing experiences that honed her skills in working with people with ailments such as: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, attention deficit disorders, Parkinson disease, and addiction issues.

Miss Gatke's expertise includes treating most psychiatric conditions, including addiction, amnesia, pervasive developmental disorder (autism and Asperger spectrum disorders), dissociative disorder, anorexia, bipolar disorder, dissociative identity disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), pain disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, somatization disorder, substance abuse, and substance dependence.
