IQ/Gifted Testing and Psychological Evaluations
An IQ/Gifted test or Psychological Evaluation could be performed for a number of reasons including the following:
Obtaining an IQ score to determine eligibility for a program for gifted children or adults, help figure out a person’s academic potential, or satisfy someone’s curiosity about his or her own intellectual ability.
Determining the presence of ADHD, Learning Disability, Autism, Anxiety, or another condition that can affect school, functioning in the workplace, self-care, or personal relationships.
Becoming eligible for testing accommodations (e.g. extended time, separate location) for high-stakes tests like the SAT, GRE, LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT.
Completing an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) to challenge a previous psychological or educational evaluation conducted by a school district.
Updating psychological and/or educational testing in order to access IEP or Section 504-type services at college.
Gaining access to support services in the community or through the courts (e.g. OPWDD eligibility, legal guardianship).
Discovering how someone can improve their memory and executive functioning skills.
IQ Testing/Gifted Evaluation
Following is a brief description if you are a parent looking for a child psychologist to test your child because you believe they are gifted (or, if you as an adult has always wondered about your intellectual abilities). It takes approximately 90 minutes of IQ testing and conducting a background interview. Scoring is usually done immediately after and results available to you within the next day or two. Afterwards, a written report is generated with recommendations. The report is sent out within 1-2 weeks.
Psychological or Psychoeducational Evaluation
We can evaluate for ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Anxiety, and other clinical issues that may be preventing someone from reaching their true potential. Afterwards, we meet in person or over the phone to discuss all the findings and recommendations. A detailed written report with recommendations is completed and sent out within 3-4 weeks. Follow-up can take place with a school, testing service, lawyer, or government agency, as requested.
